Seth Bozman reflects on the traditional negative perception of scrap and rework and how Unifize has helped Efco to approach these issues as opportunities for improvement. He appreciates Unifize's ability to provide detailed tracking and analysis, enabling Efco to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. This video illustrates how Unifize has empowered Efco to transform challenges into actionable insights, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Everybody looks at scrap and rework like it's a bad thing, right? It's like we should not have that instead of looking at it as in, say, you have a big sample size of a year or a few months, It's like, why do we keep having these problems with these parts? Why do we keep having these? And so you could trace back rework to an issue, right?

00:15 - 00:20
And if you don't log it or you don't care because you're like, let's just keep this under the table and just fix it ourselves.

00:20 - 00:24
Makes it kind of hard on trying to underlie and find actual problems, right?

00:24 - 00:32
So it's like, okay, I brought up Z channels earlier. Everybody knows we messed up Z channels because each one costs like $400 and they're very expensive parts.

00:32 - 00:38
So normally just one guy will run those because he knows how to do them and he does it well. Everybody else stay away from them. Right?

00:38 - 00:45
And he's like, why the heck, why am I the only one who has to run these? This is, you know, like I'm the one taking all the risk right now and nobody else wants to learn, this is crap, right?

00:45 - 00:58
I really hope that everybody buys into Unifize the way that we have because like I said, I feel like if we can just get the people that understand, it's like you go down and talk to somebody and they're like, We've been having these problems for years and it's like, Well, why don't you say anything about these problems for years?

00:58 - 01:11
You know what I mean, it's like we were just logging this rework time. You know, it'd be very easy to put this into a number and send it across the street to be like, Yeah, we've wasted 30 grand remaking these parts or reworking these parts for the last four years and nobody talked about it, right?

01:11 - 01:23
So it's like for sure the root cause analysis is I feel like a little spin off of what could happen, right with because we're not there yet of being able to be like, yeah, we've tracked this for a long time and we can find a solution to it.

01:23 - 01:29
Like a lot of times we're just going with the flow and trying to make sure that we keep our heads above water if that makes sense.

01:29 - 01:42
We're trying to get stuff out the door to a customer that, there's a whole thing going on between scheduling, the sales to the when we get the material in to run the parts and then all of a sudden it has to be out the door in a week and we're like, this could be better, but it's not because we have to meet that deadline.

01:42 - 01:46
And then it goes out there like we love it and it's like, you know, so it's just always it's always something.
