I'm the Director of Quality, Compliance and Formulation at Biovation Labs here in Salt Lake City, part of a larger organization, Wellful.

[00:07 - 00:36]
We have both internal and external customers is what I call that. We have the brands that are all under the Wellful umbrella, that we're all part of the same company and we're they're predominant, if not entire manufacturer for capsules and tablets here by Biovation. But we also do some contract manufacturing with some large customers that you'll see out in in the industry, your Walgreens and CVSes and things like that, who also do, in the dietary supplement sector, predominantly joint health and men’s health really.

[00:36 - 00:40]
But that's that's sort of the bread and butter.

[00:40 - 00:53]
My background was in biochemistry. I spent about five years in the pharmaceutical industry doing method development and method validation for novel compounds at a Contract Research Organization.

[00:53 - 01:04]
After a few years, I realized that the FDA was gunning for the nutraceuticals industry, and I thought it would be advantageous to make the switch to this industry from pharma.

[01:04 - 01:28]
And so far I've been correct. I started at a big contract manufacturer in Nelson Nutraceuticals. Worked my way up there. Um, actually the big break there was I launched MasterControl and I was the global admin for it and that's kind of how I started down the path of wanting a more automated, streamlined digital documentation and quality management system.

[01:28 - 01:44]
This is the place I wanted to be in my career in this world class quality management system because it starts to manage itself. My job, I've always viewed, is to design myself out of my current job and Unifize absolutely has given me that ability.

But what we've known from what I experience was, is we were able to get there with the system. We still there with the system. The system has what is needed to provide us what we're looking for, because every company, admittedly, is trying to get compliant. If we educate people, if we get people the education that they need and to get over the fear factor, I think 90% of those things can be resolved because most people will go to what they're most familiar with. What I worked with from a different company, but they're not willing to sit down and look at what the demographics are saying. People are into social media now. People are moving fast into fast paced world. But technologies are still antiquated. So there's a disconnect here, right? So while we're moving at a fast pace at home with dragging at work, so why can't we continue that speed while we at work?If your supplier has issues and you're not informed on time, you want to have an alternate supplier in place. If your suppliers are not qualified, you may not know that that needs to happen. And so when you have an integrated system that speaks to itself and is giving you all this data, you literally have the pulse of the organization in your hands as an executive at a money bound access.
